Song Lyrics: Tu Chaand Mein Chakor

Ye Hamari Kahani
Sabko hai gar sunani
Sach to ye hai, Tu Chaand mein chakor
Sach to ye hai, Tu Chaand mein chakor

Har janam mein ho dikhti
Par kabhi tum na milti
Is janam bhi, Tu Chaand mein chakor
Is janam bhi, Tu Chaand mein chakor

Sang tumhare sitare
Ho kabhi to hamare
Ye na-mumkin, Tu chaand mein chakor
Ye na-mumkin, Tu chaand mein chakor

Sleep Sweet Lullaby

Lyrics:

Sleep Sweet

Sleep Sweet my dear child,
For a while-
longer upon my breast

Soon you'll grow up and go
I dont know
How far from our nest

And then I'll miss your kiss
And all of this
Singing sweet songs to you

I'll miss your gentle tug
Warm soft hug
With every thought of you

Sleep sweet my dear child
For a while -
longer upon my breast

One day I'll get to meet
The one you choose
To have you and to hold

It will be bitter-sweet
I'll seem to lose
My little pot of gold

But then I'll always be
Here for you
Through your triumphs and strife

Because my dear, you see,
I love you
And I'm your dad (mum) for life

Sleep sweet my dear child,
For a while-
longer upon my breast

Sleep sweet my dear child,
For a while-
longer...
Just a little longer

Nature fundamentally has everything as only a privilege for all living creatures, even life is a gift. All animals, birds and plants know this truth instinctively and live accordingly. Only humans are different.
Only some humans view any or many of these as Rights. Different human societies have different expectations set for these things between Privilege and Entitlement. The character of those who view these as privileges are different from those that view these as a Right. The more items that are viewed as an entitlement, the weaker and rotten the society becomes. Not to say that human society should not try and provide these but mistaking a privilege for an entitlement is the fatal flaw. We need to constantly remind our children of this.
Have you ever heard of a bird, a fish or an ant sue someone for any rights it is entitled to? It is a privilege to be able to sue for one's rights!!

Politics: Linear Programming and Why Karmarkar's Algorithm Will Not Work In Democracies

Getting stuck with extreme idealistic unattainable or impractical expectations and positions on too many issues with one possible single vote every few years with so many others with differing opinions and interests is the big folly in the politics of democracy. Idealism is not bad in itself, but carried beyond practicality is foolish and futile.

Older people with repeated experience of disappointments tend to become a bit more pragmatic, but not all do.

Of course, we all have to be thankful to fate when something or someone better than we have a right to expect or demand comes along and actually acts to improve the situation in a democracy in big significant leaps. Mostly the trend has been in leaders leaving the system worse off than when they come to power.

Leave alone achieving an ideal government with all ideal polices on all issue through the democratic process, it is not even possible to achieve in one step (one shot) as in an election the best-possible-optimal  solution that exists like in linear programming with hundreds of millions of variables (each voter being one)  People that understand linear programming can relate to this (not that humans are even linear in their thinking or reasoning). The best we can hope for is a quick and dirty sub-optimal result which is what we usually get. Even a brilliant algorithm like Karmarkar's, requires more than one step and the variables and factors change between one election and the next!!

Wrinkles Around Her Eyes And A Twinkle Within

Next to the window, she sat alone
At a table for meant for two
Looking out at the setting sun
As longer the shadows grew

I did not want to come across as rude
I sat down a table away
Into her reverie I did not intrude
Even a “Hello!” I did not say

I ate quietly from my plate
She silently sipped her tea
Discreetly I caught glimpses of her
Never caught her looking at me

Pushing past middle age, just like me
She was bordering on the old
A gust of wind, she pulled her shawl around
It was getting a little cold

Her looks spoke of a goddess in her youth
Her clothes a little plain
It seemed like her lips had smiled a lot
And her eyes had seen some pain

The fading gold of her tresses
Now grey, around her face
The blue-grey eyes, lost somewhere
Her movements full of grace

The music played softly in the diner
As we went about our repast
The fading sunlight was almost gone
A little spell was cast

It seemed without a word or a look
Our souls had said “Hi there!”
Two words speaking volumes to fill a book
And some left over to spare

Shy and nervous, I was trying hard,
Trying hard not to stare
My nervous fingers combed my balding pate
Like in times when I had hair

We were both silently mouthing words,
To the song that was playing
The lyrics were just perfect for
What the heart was saying

Soon, she stood up, gathered her bag
And was about to walk by
I took a deep breath, composed myself but
I guess, I let out a sigh

I reckoned, I would try and dare
Dare catch one last sight
Before we both became two ships,
Two ships passing in the night

As I made bold to look up at her
Soup dribbled down my chin
I saw the wrinkles around her eyes
And the twinkle within

She flashed the most beautiful smile
That I had seen in quite a while
Said, “You must have had great hair when young,”
And as I gasped she went on, “Cat got your tongue?”
